How MTestHub’s AI Audio and Video Response Evaluation Helps Recruitment Teams Review Responses with Evidence

Great answers and great delivery are not the same thing. Yet in most spoken assessments, delivery wins.
Here's why: A recruiter sits down to review sixty video responses. By the time they reach the twentieth submission, focus begins to fade, and by the fortieth, the initial applicants begin to blur. Then a second reviewer joins, and the results change.
That, exactly, is the hidden cost of audio and video evaluations in a hiring process. Though they show how a candidate thinks, listens, and persuades, they remain the hardest responses to review fairly. As a result, many teams use them less than they should.
MTestHub has just changed that. With the introduction of AI Audio and Video Response Evaluation, responses are transcribed and assessed by AI based on the job-related rubric, allowing recruiters to review the complete evidence behind each score.
This is a recruiter help feature that assists them in running and reviewing spoken assessments faster and more consistently. MTestHub supports audio, video, and file upload responses, and AI is built into the experience from the first step to the last for greater precision.
When a candidate submits an audio or video response, MTestHub transcribes and evaluates it against the rubric built for the role. Recruiters are then able to see everything in one place, including:
As a result, all responses are judged using the same standard, with each score backed with proof. The AI does the first pass, and the recruiter keeps the final decision. The most important detail is the rubric, as the AI does not score against a generic idea of a good answer. Rather, it evaluates against the criteria that matter for the actual role.
The process runs from building the assessment to reviewing the evidence. Here’s how it works within the MTestHub platform in simple steps:
Step 1: Build the assessment with AI For roles already existing on the MTestHub jobs board. The recruiter clicks Create Assessment, chooses video, audio, and file upload response types, and the AI assessment builder writes the questions. The recruiter then publishes it.
Step 2: Set the integrity settings Before sending, the recruiter chooses how the assessment integrity is protected. Available settings include full-screen mode, blocked copy and paste, a running timer, a session IP log, and screen recording. Candidates must authorise screen sharing before they begin.
Step 3: Send the invitation Recruiters can send the assessment from a candidate profile or from a job. They can also automate the whole step, so invitations go out without manual effort.
Step 4: The candidate completes the assessment The candidate opens the invitation, tests their screen share, and enters full-screen mode. The assessment can mix question types. A multiple-choice question might come first, followed by a spoken scenario. For a sales role, that could be a prospect saying their finance team wants the cheaper option, with the candidate recording their reply.
Step 5: Review the evidence and decide MTestHub transcribes each response and evaluates it against the job-related rubric. The recruiter reviews the original video, the transcript, the scoring evidence, the strengths and the areas to validate, then makes the call.
Without a clear scoring guide, reviewers often favor superficial traits like fluent speaking or charm, neither of which guarantees good work performance.
When AI scores every response against one rubric, the question changes from “Who sounded best?” to “Who gave the best answer for this role?” The recruiter can quickly see how each candidate handles issues and how well their answer fits the job needs.
That is not all. The transcript adds another benefit: you can read an answer, scan for key points, and compare candidates without rewatching full videos. When they want to check tone or delivery, the video sits right beside the transcript.
They also highlight where the AI detects gaps or uncertainty, helping recruiters focus their attention where it matters most. AI does not replace human judgment—it simply guides it.
Trust matters when assessments run remotely, so integrity settings are part of the setup. Full-screen mode and blocked copy and paste keep candidates focused on their own answers. The timer keeps conditions equal, while the session IP log and screen recording add a record of how the assessment was completed.
Evaluating with AI raises a fair question: who makes the final decision? In MTestHub, the answer is the recruiter.
The scoring evidence lets recruiters see why the AI scored a response the way it did. The original video and transcript let them check that reasoning for themselves. If something looks off, they can look closer. If the evidence holds up, they can move ahead with confidence.
Spoken responses should help you hire better, not slow you down. AI Audio and Video Response Evaluation gives recruiters a transcript, a rubric-based score, and the evidence behind it, all in one place.
MTestHub’s mission is to replace assumption-driven hiring with evidence-driven decisions at every stage of the pipeline. This feature extends that mission to one of the hardest parts of the process to review fairly.
