Imagine a hiring manager reviewing 75 candidates’ resumes. Before they even read the first skill score or look at a single test result, their brain is already working in the background. In just a fraction of a second, simple details like a person's first name, last name, or location trigger implicit assumptions.

They may start to make unconscious guesses about the candidate's gender, cultural background, age, or potential fit within the existing team dynamic. It happens fast, and it happens to almost everyone (even the most well-intentioned evaluators).

When these biased assumptions take over, true skills and objective evidence become sidelined right from the start. A highly qualified candidate might be overlooked simply because their name sounds unfamiliar or doesn't match a traditional profile. Meanwhile, another applicant might move to the top of the list because of an unconscious sense of familiarity. This subtle, systemic bias creates an uneven playing field before the interview process even officially begins.

MTestHub has just found a way to shut this down entirely. With the launch of the Review Pack feature on the MTestHub platform, hiring managers no longer see names or demographic markers first but verifiable evidence of skill.

By placing raw capability at the center of the evaluation process, this feature ensures that every candidate gets a fair shot based strictly on what they can bring to the role.

What is the Review Pack feature?

The Review Pack feature gives recruiters an intuitive, streamlined way to present the hiring managers responsible for filling each role with a shortlist of top candidates based entirely on proof of skill, rather than identity or personal background.

Instead of sending raw resumes filled with irrelevant details, recruiters can generate a clean, objective overview with a single click. This allows recruiters to easily perform key actions like:

  • Build a clear, focused list of the best candidates for a job

  • Hide candidate names completely with a single click

  • Display neutral placeholders like Candidate A, Candidate B, and Candidate C instead of full names

As a result, every single candidate is judged strictly on what truly drives on-the-job success: matching skills, validated test scores, demonstrated strengths, and clearly identified areas to grow. There are no messy resumes to dig through, no personal details to cloud judgment, and no names to trigger unintended bias. Just clear, standardized proof that speaks for itself.

This is not a standalone feature or just a passing trend. It is a core feature of MTestHub’s mission: replacing assumption-driven hiring with evidence-driven decisions at every stage of the pipeline.

The Review Pack Feature Workflow

The MTestHub Review Pack feature makes it easy for recruiters to share shortlisted candidates with hiring managers for an anonymized, bias-free review. The process takes just a few simple steps, helping recruitment teams collaborate more effectively while keeping the focus on skills, qualifications, and role fit.

Here’s how to use the feature within the MTestHub platform.

Review Pack Feature Flow.jpg

Step 1: Create a Review Pack for the Selected Role Once a recruiter opens a job in MTestHub, they can access the Review Pack feature directly from the job workspace by clicking “Create Review Pack.” This makes it easy to start the review process using the candidates already shortlisted for the role.

Step 2: Share the Shortlist Securely The recruiter selects the candidates to include and enters the hiring manager’s details to share the review pack. They can choose to enable blind review, which anonymizes candidate identities, and include supporting evidence such as assessment results. The recruiter can also add feedback or a note to provide context for the review. Once the review pack is created, the hiring manager receives a secure link to access the shortlist and review the candidates without needing an MTestHub login.

Step 3: Review Candidates and Make Recommendations The hiring manager can review each candidate’s profile, including relevant skills, role alignment, strengths, gaps, and available assessment evidence. When blind review is enabled, candidates appear under neutral labels such as Candidate A, Candidate B, and Candidate C, helping the hiring manager focus on their suitability for the role rather than personal identifiers.

After reviewing the evidence, the hiring manager can recommend whether to advance, hold, or decline each candidate and provide feedback to support the next stage of the hiring process.

How Anonymized Candidate Evaluation Can Influence Hiring Decisions

A candidate's name carries subtle information. When a hiring manager sees a name, it can create immediate, unconscious assumptions before they even see the person’s proof of skill. These assumptions can involve gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, age, or socioeconomic background - none of which reflect a person's ability to perform well in a job.

Research on implicit bias shows that these shortcuts work below conscious awareness. Even people who care deeply about diversity and fairness still make quick, biased choices without realizing it; relying on goodwill alone or telling managers to "be more careful" simply isn't enough to stop these automatic mental shortcuts.

When anonymity is introduced into candidate evaluation, the core decision completely moves from subjective, vague questions like_ "Who feels like a natural fit?" or "Who seems like someone I'd get along with?"_ toward objective, facts-based questions like "Who possesses the exact skills required?" and "Who demonstrated the strongest performance on the practical tasks?"

When you remove candidate names and identifying details, you are left with the core facts that should drive every hiring decision. The Review Pack feature replaces subjective resume formatting with a structured dashboard of actionable insights:

  • How well each candidate’s skills match the role
  • Scores from technical, writing, and communication tests
  • Proven key strengths
  • Identified skill gaps
  • Fact-based candidate evaluations

This structured view offers a far clearer, more accurate, and vastly more consistent way to evaluate candidate potential than traditional, self-reported resumes ever could.

Benefits for Both Recruitment Teams & Candidates

MTestHub’s Review Pack feature is not just a corporate policy that looks good on paper while changing nothing in practice. It is built directly on MTestHub's robust assessment infrastructure, ensuring that anonymizing a shortlist never means evaluating candidates with less information. In fact, it means evaluating them with high-quality information.

The benefits of this feature to hiring teams of organizations include:

1. Hiring managers feel more confident in their hiring decisions when those choices rest on solid proof and not what they know about each candidate.

2. Hiring decisions backed by skill scores and clear facts are also easy to explain to others.

3. There are fewer hiring mistakes because decisions influenced by names or origins are harder to justify and much more likely to be wrong.

This feature also changes the candidate experience in meaningful ways, including:

1. A true level playing field: Candidates know they are being evaluated on their skills and test performance, not their name, gender, location, or school prestige.

2. Recognition for non-traditional paths: Talented individuals who learned on the job or through bootcamps can let their assessment scores prove their value without getting filtered out early.

3. Increased trust in the company: Applicants view organizations using anonymous review tools as progressive, fair, and genuinely committed to merit-based hiring.

Driving Evidence-Based Hiring Across Every Stage of Recruitment

MTestHub’s Review Pack fundamentally changes how organizations evaluate top talent by putting validated capability first. By stripping away implicit bias and unnecessary distractions, it creates a fairer and more efficient hiring experience for everyone involved - recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates.
